Hi Katriona,

So many rules, so little time. Never mind, then.

Who is Victor Gollancz, and how does he fit into the George Orwell story?

I hope you don’t mind me posting that link on your site. Will it stay?

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your e-mail and thanks again for your entry to this years prize.

These are the rules regarding the Special Prize as detailed on our website at http://theorwellprize.co.uk/the-orwell-prize/how-to-enter/rules/:
51. There are no submissions for the Special Prize, unless the judges decide to announce at the Prize launch that they are inviting submissions for a Special Prize around a named subject or medium.
52. The award of a Special Prize is entirely at the discretion of the judges – they do not have to award a Special Prize if they do not wish to do so.

I’m sure you can appreciate that this is a busy time for us so I apologise for my delayed response to your first email.

Very best,

Hi Katriona,

I hope all is well with you.

I’m not sure if you got my email on 3/29.12. Maybe it got caught in the server? It’s been a while, so I thought I would drop you another note.

amanfromMars and I posted a message that same day on the “about” page http://theorwellprize.co.uk/the-orwell-prize/about-the-prize/. Also, that same day, I sent a message to Gaby Hinsliff, last year’s blog judge, because I did not want to influence the current judges . . . but she Winston Smithed my comment in about 5 minutes!

How odd?

Would you be kind enough to speak to the judges and see if they are considering our site for the Special Prize and get back to me?

The other day, I had a bit of a giggle. I had originally self-nominated under the book award, then Gavin Freeguard had me instead apply under the blog award . . . but in hindsight, we could have also self-nominated under the journalism award, since our site is a mixture of all 3!

You see, our site operates outside the system and has no boundaries . . . this enables us to get right to the heart of a matter, including current issues.

Oh, by the way, I have been researching George Orwell and found an interesting character named Victor Gollancz. Have you ever heard of him?

I post everything on ARG MetaPhoria . . . including this email.

Have a great day and I hope to hear from you soon!

If I don’t hear back soon, I’ll have to take that same road to Wigan Pier . . . and a lot has changed since 1937.

  1. Hi Agent Weebley,

To make a long story short,

    Every bit in your e-mail is verified and correct, from “From” to “12″. It’s a pleasure for a writer/editor to meet a constructive reply from an outsider (-;

Special Thanks for the coffee @3:21, AW@TS. I wish this video could go with an “Ocean” tag. Nevertheless, it’s “Waterfalls” :-)

    DiDuLa – Waterfalls

    Surreal.

    • Hi Agent Revolver,

That was magic . . . the home riff was to die4 . . . who is that guy?

      I’ll be back later . . . Orwell tonight?

      • Maybe yes?

I would suppose that the Orwell Prise judges/editorial? are quite mystical characters. On request “author gavin freeguard katriona lewis” their names, geniunely poetical, appeared to be totally crossed out of Yandex, which was probably lacking a poetical string/mood by the time. Then I clicked the “Search Google” link. Five results matched amongst three pages of trash (one ghost page). MetaPhoria was the fifth. Two links had popups and such. Nearly unknown telephone number. Sp00ky…

People say they shoot cannons into sky? How many balls keep their orbit with their now-thousands or add-zero of readers, I wonder… I think Literature is a rough craft, and some of the authors probably feel once that they’d rather agree to work in Mines (-:

Anyway, I believe the 3kP win win would greatly help to manage some job running. I would personally thank the Orwell Prise for giving an unexpected but high-taking kick to this humble Piece Communication experiment. Thanks for that, Katriona, this part of the play is wholly yours.

  2. Hi Agent Revolver,

As well as being with Lucy all day, I did a little bit of this and that . . . In the AM, as well as the PM, I have been traversing the interwebby thingy . . . a note here, chiming in there . . . this was my latest . . . on “augmented reality glasses.”

    Sounds like virtual autism . . .

. . . but on the other hand, if you stare at David Cameron, will it give you a list of all similar criminals in the world?

    I LIKE IT!

I think the key is to have a little fun.

    • “if you stare at David Cameron, will it give you a list of all similar criminals in the world?” —

Funny but such’s a sad truth, it won’t until you have a trusted background on the subject/matter :-) …I guess your question was rhetorical?

  3. Er, it seems the comments are not loading now.

  4. They are now loading on the Telegraph . . . phew.
